Some History...

Laura the Elephant has been a staple for the Muskegon Shoreline Spectacular since the early 1990’s.  She provides rides from noon until 4:00 p.m. during Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Labor Day Weekend. She is the only recorded elephant to have bathed in Lake Michigan and it continues each year during the three-day Muskegon Shoreline Spectacular Labor Day Weekend.

Be among the hundreds to walk Laura down the Pere Marquette beach to cool off.  Don’t forget to bring the suntan lotion, sunglasses, and camera to escort for an elephant into the water of Lake Michigan. Your photos will be unbelievable for his is a chance of a lifetime you won’t forget!

Laura’s Bio

• Born:   1982
• Place: Zimbabwe, Africa
• Owner: Ivory Haven Farms, LLC - her dad W.C. Walters has been with her since she was 2 years old
• Home: Ivory Haven Farms, Newaygo, Michigan
• Birthday: Celebrated in Traverse City, Michigan during Cherry Festival
• Work: 40-50 days/year doing programs at schools, company picnics, festivals, etc.
• Other: Laura has been in several commercials, and a movie... She is a photo ham, so come bring your camera when you come to see her... Ivory Haven Farms, LLC is licensed by the USDA and provide her with 24-hour care
